Conventional wisdom has it that it was the home of both William Oliver and Mary Elizabeth (Verdot) Agee. However, William died on 7 Aug 1881 and "Mary E. Agee" patented the land on 2 Feb 1889. Mary E. did not patent the land until well after William's death. If so, William may not have actually lived there.
I guess it is possible that William & Mary may have actually homesteaded the property before his death, but that Mary E. did not get it patented until later. Either way, it was patented in Mary's name, not his.
